GUARDIANSHIP ADVISORY COUNCIL (GAC)

Our meetings are every 3rd Friday of the Third month at 9:00 a.m. at our conference room in the Office of Guardianship, DDPC, 810 W. San Mateo, Suite C, Santa Fe, New Mexico

The purpose of this Guardianship Advisory Council (GAC) is to provide advisory counsel to the NMDDPC Office of Guardianship regarding the needs and rights of persons who are incapacitated or allegedly incapacitated. Up to twenty voting members are appointed by the DDPC Executive Director, with membership being representative of the following:

·        Petitioning Attorneys, Guardians ad Litem (GAL) and court appointed Visitors
·        Administrative Office of the Courts
·        State contracted guardianship providers
·        Other guardianship providers including volunteers and other non-contracted guardians
·        Family members and peers
·        Disability rights advocacy organizations
·        Community based services
·        Five Members of the DDPC Council.
 
Additionally, the GAC includes non-voting participating members from interested state agencies as follows:
·        Aging & Long Term Services Dept./Adult Protective Services (ALTSD/APS)
·        Public Education Dept./Special Education
·        Department of Health, DDSD & Facilities
·        Department of Health
·        Department of Vocational Rehabilitation
·        Department of Veterans' Services
·        Children Youth & Families Department         
 
The Guardianship Advisory Council meets on the 3rd Friday, Tri-Monthly: June 17th, September 16th, and December 16th.  Meetings are normally held in the conference room at the Office of Guardianship, DDPC, 810 W. San Mateo Steet, Suite C, Santa Fe, NM 87505-4144, unless scheduled otherwise.
